In the NHL playoffs, the Bruins put the New York Rangers on the brink of elimination with a 2-1 victory in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series on Tuesday night. Boston leads the best-of-seven series 3-0 and can advance to the conference finals as early as Thursday at Madison Square Garden. Elsewhere, San Jose topped Los Angeles 2-1.

In baseball news, Baltimore beat the Yankees 3-2 to snap a six-game losing streak in 10 innings. New York also announced a partnership with Manchester City to own Major League Soccer's 20th team, which will be called New York City Football Club.

Elsewhere in the American League, the White Sox beat Boston 3-1. Detroit downed Cleveland 5-1. Tampa Bay defeated Toronto 4-3. Oakland shut out Texas 1-0. Kansas City passed Houston 7-3 and the Angels blew out Seattle 12-0. Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer.

In the National League, it was Cincinnati over the Mets 4-0. Pittsburgh beat the Cubs 5-4. Philadelphia won against Miami 7-3. Milwaukee outscored the Dodgers 5-2. Colorado beat Arizona 5-4 in game that lasted 10 innings. St. Louis cruised ahead of San Diego 10-2 and San Francisco doubled up Washington 4-2. That game also lasted 10 innings.

Lastly, Minnesota fell to Atlanta 5-4 in interleague play.

In the NBA playoffs, San Antonio defeated Memphis 93-89.

Elsewhere in the NBA, Cleveland has won the draft lottery for the second time in three years and the Clippers have fired head coach Vinny Del Negro. Finally, golf’s governing bodies have outlawed the anchored putting stroke.
