In the NHL playoffs, it will be the Bruins against the Rangers in the Eastern Conference semifinals. History was made in the game between Boston and Toronto. The Bruins trailed by three goals in the third period before beating Toronto 5-4 in overtime. That is the first time that has ever happened. Patrice Bergeron provided the tying and series-winning goals to cap the Bruins' tremendous Game 7 comeback. Elsewhere, the Rangers also won their Game 7 with 5-0 win over the Capitals in Washington.
In other hockey news, veteran coach Mike Keenan has signed a two-year contract to coach a Russian club. The 63-year-old Keenan led the New York Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup title.
In the NBA playoffs, it was Miami over Chicago 88-65. LeBron James had 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. In the only other playoff game, Memphis overcame Oklahoma City 103-97. Lastly, tonight the Knicks take on the Pacers in Game 3 at 7:00 p.m.
In baseball news, in a doubleheader the Yankees fell to Cleveland 1-0 the first game then rallied to beat the Indians 7-0 the second game. Elsewhere, Detroit beat Houston 7-2. Minnesota cruised ahead of the White Sox 10-3. Kansas City crushed the Angels 11-4 and Oakland beat Texas 5-1.
In the National League, St. Louis doubled up the Mets 6-3. Milwaukee defeated Pittsburgh 5-1. The cubs passed Colorado 9-1. Atlanta defeated Arizona 10-1 and the Dodgers fell to Washington 6-2.
In other sports news, Buddy Nix is stepping down as the Buffalo Bills general manager. However, the Bills said in a release issued on Monday that Nix will remain with the team in a new role as special assistant.
Finally, O.J. Simpson is asking for a new trial in the armed robbery-kidnapping case that sent him to prison for 33 years in 2008.
