WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In the NBA playoffs, the Bulls closed on a 10-0 run over the final two minutes to knock off Miami 93-86 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Nate Robinson had a game-high 27 points for the Bulls. Elsewhere, it was San Antonio over Golden State 129-127.

In the NHL, the New York Rangers finally have their first win of the Stanley Cup playoffs after beating Washington 4-3. The series stays at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 on Wednesday. The Boston Bruins defeated Toronto 5-2. Game 4 is tomorrow night in Toronto, with Boston leading 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. Detroit slid past Anaheim 3-2 and Los Angeles defeated St. Louis 4-3.

In baseball news, checking the American League, the Red Sox rallied past the Twins 6-5 in 11 innings to stop a season-high, three-game losing streak. Stephen Drew doubled in the winning run with two outs in the 11th. Drew also scored a home run for Boston. Alex Rodriguez was back on the field for the first time since surgery on his left hip almost four months ago, at the team's minor league complex in Tampa, Fla. Elsewhere, Cleveland topped Oakland 7-3 and Toronto bested Tampa Bay 8-7.

In the National League, San Diego shut out Miami 5-0. Atlanta outscored Cincinnati 7-5. Arizona cruised ahead of the Dodgers 9-2 and Philadelphia beat San Francisco 6-2.

Checking golf news, Fred Couples and Colin Montgomerie were inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

In other sports news, Manny Pacquiao will fight Brandon Rios on Nov. 24th in China. This is his first fight since being knocked out in December.
