WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In the NBA, the Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets 90-82 on Monday night to even their first-round series at one game apiece. Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brook Lopez scored 21 points for the Nets.

Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Clippers are heading to Memphis after grabbing a two-games-to-none lead in the NBA's Western Conference quarterfinals. Chris Paul hit a floater with 0.1 seconds left to give the Clippers a 93-91 victory over the Grizzlies. Blake Griffin finished with 21 points.

As a reminder tonight is the second game between the Celtics and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

In baseball news, checking the American League, the Boston Red Sox rebounded from a doubleheader sweep beating Oakland 9-6. Mike Napoli hit a grand slam and drove in five runs. Ryan Roberts homered twice and Tampa Bay beat the New York Yankees 5-1. The White Sox fell to Cleveland 3-2. Seattle bested Houston 7-1 and Texas edged ahead of the Angels 7-6.

Checking the National League, Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh 3-2. Cincinnati won against the Cubs 5-4. St. Louis beat Washington 3-2. Milwaukee cruised ahead of San Diego 7-1 and Arizona lost to San Francisco 5-4.

In the NHL, Winnipeg beat Buffalo 2-1. Detroit shut out Phoenix 4-0. Pittsburgh beat Ottawa 3-1 and Vancouver bested Chicago 3-1.

In other sports news, Manchester United won its record 20th English league title, beating Aston Villa 3-0.

Finally, the Times Union reports that the Oakland Athletics  have bought outfielder and Schenectady native Casper Wells  from the Toronto Blue Jays.
