Brook Lopez scored 20 points and the Brooklyn Nets held off the Detroit Pistons 103-99. Detroit will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
The Celtics closed out the regular season with a 114-90 loss to the Raptors. Players from both teams gathered at midcourt before tip-off to observe a moment of silence.
Elsewhere, Charlotte beat Cleveland 105-98. Milwaukee defeated Oklahoma City 95-89. Minnesota beat San Antonio 108-95. Dallas topped New Orleans 99-87. Miami beat Orlando 105-93. Philadelphia edged ahead of Indiana 105-95. Denver cruised past Phoenix 118-98. Utah fell to Memphis 86-70. Chicago beat Washington 95-92. Golden State won against Portland 99-88. The Lakers moved up to the seventh seed and bested Houston 99-95 and the Clippers rallied to beat Sacramento 112-108.
In baseball, checking interleague play, the Yankees beat Arizona 4-3. Brett Gardner had a tying, two-run single in the seventh. Elsewhere, Kansas City shut out Atlanta 1-0. In the American League, Boston doubled up Cleveland 6-3. Oakland beat Houston 7-5. Tampa Bay outscored Baltimore 6-2. The White Sox shut out Toronto 7-0 and Detroit beat Seattle 2-1.
In the National League, the game between the Mets and the Rockies was postponed from another spring storm. Pittsburgh shut out St. Louis 5-0. Cincinnati crushed Philadelphia 11-2. Washington defeated Miami 6-1. Milwaukee beat San Francisco 4-3 and San Diego past the Dodgers 7-2.
In the NHL, Buffalo topped Boston 3-2. The game was the first major sporting event in Boston since Monday's attack. Pittsburgh beat Montreal 6-4 and Detroit lost to Calgary 3-2.
