In the NBA, the Heat picked up their 27th straight win by downing the Magic 108-94 in Orlando. Lebron James finished with 24 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds to help Miami get within six games of matching the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers league mark for longest winning streak. Elsewhere, Indiana beat Atlanta 100-94. Washington topped Memphis 107-94. New Orleans defeated Denver 110-86. Utah won against Philadelphia 107-91 and Golden State beat the Lakers 109-103.

Boston's Kevin Garnett is expected to miss at least a week with inflammation in his left ankle.

Checking the NHL, Boston beat Toronto 3-2. Ottawa defeated New Jersey 3-2. Los Angeles outscored Chicago 5-4. Minnesota beat Dallas 7-4 and Detroit slid past Phoenix 3-2.

In college basketball news, Tubby Smith is out as head basketball coach at Minnesota.

In the women’s NCAA basketball tournament, Connecticut has advanced to the Round of 16 for the 20th consecutive season crushing Vanderbilt 77-44.

Tennessee defeated Creighton 68-52. Nebraska beat Texas A&M 74-63. Maryland crushed Michigan St. 74-49. California won against South Florida 82-78 and Oklahoma beat UCLA 85-72.

In golf, Tiger Woods captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational, closing with a 2-under 70 for a 13-under total. The victory puts him back at the top of the world rankings for the first time since October 2010.

Finally, Jerry Sandusky said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show that a key witness against him misinterpreted him showering with a young boy in Penn State football team facilities more than a decade ago.
