In the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder picked up their third straight win last night to pull within 2 ½ games of first-place San Antonio in the NBA's Western Conference. The Thunder downed the Knicks 95-94 in New York.

The only other NBA game last night had Denver beating the Los Angeles Clippers 109-92. It's the seventh straight win for the Nuggets and their 12th in a row in Denver. They own the league's best home mark at 27-3. The loss drops the Clippers five games off the Western Conference lead.

Checking the NHL, New Jersey beat Buffalo 3-2. Washington defeated Florida 7-1. Montreal doubled up Carolina 4-2. The NY Rangers beat the NY Islanders 2-1. Pittsburgh edged ahead of Philadelphia 5-4. Boston doubled up Toronto 4-2. Columbus slid past Vancouver 2-1. Winnipeg won against Tampa Bay 2-1. St. Louis doubled up Phoenix 6-3 and Dallas beat Los Angeles 5-2.

In college basketball, Kentucky fell to Georgia 72-62. Michigan St. beat Wisconsin 58-43. Oregon lost to Colorado 76-53. Florida St. beat Virginia 53-51. Drake defeated Bradley 81-66. Penn St. won against Northwestern 66-59. Louisiana Tech lost to New Mexico St. 78-60. Utah beat Oregon St. 72-61 and Utah St. defeated Texas St. 77-61.

In baseball spring training action, Boston beat Minnesota 12-5. St. Louis bested the Yankees 7-6 and the Mets topped Miami 4-1. The United States takes on Mexico tonight in the World Baseball Classic. Finally, Yankees closer Mariano Rivera plans to retire after the 2013 season.
