Weekend March Planned In Plattsburgh

A march for peace and racial justice is planned Saturday in Plattsburgh.

The march will begin in Trinity Park adjacent to City Hall and move through the downtown to the police department and then return to the park.  Organizers say they are protesting racism, legal injustice and violence against Black Americans.

Mayor Colin Read says the city and police department have been working with the organizers to assure a safe march.  “We’ll be walking with them. Our interests are aligned. We’re all aghast at we’ve seen elsewhere. We certainly don’t want to see that kind of thing ever happen here.”

The No Justice No Peace Walk For Change is scheduled to begin at 11 Saturday morning.
