Some Folk'll Never Write A Book, But Then Again Mike Reiss'll

You might remember Mike Reiss from writing such films as "Ice Age," "Kung Fu Panda" and "The President's Neck is Missing." OK, that last one is actually from Reiss’ longest-running gig in the writers’ room on Fox behemoth "The Simpsons," where he was also co-showrunner for the show’s pivotal third and fourth seasons. The Emmy and Peabody winner has been delivering a presentation on the show for many years , and has now released a new book: "Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets and Outright Lies From a Lifetime of Writing for 'The Simpsons.'"

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013. He began working on Morning Edition and has produced The Capitol Connection, Congressional Corner, and several other WAMC programs. Ian can also be heard as the host of the WAMC News Podcast and on The Roundtable and various newscasts. Ian holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany, where he has taught journalism since 2013.
