A Plattsburgh man has been charged in connection with the cross-border kidnapping of an elderly Franklin County, New York couple.
Fifty-year-old Graigory Brown of Plattsburgh is accused of conspiring to kidnap 76-year-old James Helm Sr. and his 70-year-old wife Sandra.

Brown and others allegedly broke into the couple’s Moira home, took them to Canada by boat and held them for two days while demanding ransom from one of their children.

The Helms were rescued by Quebec police.

Four people have been charged in Quebec. Brown faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison.
