Military Helicopter Clips Control Tower; 1 Person Injured

A military helicopter clipped a control tower at a former Air Force base in central New York, injuring one passenger.

Authorities say the accident happened late Thursday night at Griffiss International Airport, located at the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome.

One passenger was taken to hospital for treatment. Five others were uninjured.

WSYR-TV reports that the helicopter was taxiing at the time of the accident.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. says the helicopter is based at Fort Drum in northern New York.
