Dutchess, Orange Report Additional COVID-19 Deaths

COVID-19 was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and has now been detected in 37 locations across the globe, including in the U.S., according to the CDC.

Dutchess and Orange Counties on Thursday reported more COVID-related deaths.

Dutchess officials on Thursday confirmed the second death of a county resident relating to COVID-19. They say a 71-year-old male died Wednesday at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was admitted for cardiac arrest and respiratory distress, and tested positive for COVID-19. Dutchess has 190 positive cases of COVID-19, and the numbers are expected to increase as a mobile collection site for COVID-19 testing opened this week at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill. Also on Thursday, Orange Countyofficials reported the second and third COVID-19-related deaths, a woman over the age of 70 and a woman over the age of 90, both with pre-existing conditions. As of Thursday, Orange County had 756 positive cases.
