In Dutchess County, New York, the Beacon police chief and police captain are retiring.

Police Chief Kevin Junjulas and Police Captain Gary Fredericks are retiring from the Beacon Police Department as of July 7. They have more than 24 years each with Beacon and more than 30 years of service total. Junjulas and Fredericks were appointed police chief and captain, respectively, in 2018, with the unexpected departure of the prior chief Doug Solomon, who became the police chief in Newburgh but was suspended earlier this year and has since resigned. Beacon officials will start a recruitment process to search for a new chief. They expect the process to take several months.
