Albany Medical Center nurses rallied outside the hospital on New Scotland Avenue Saturday morning.

The nurses represented by the New York State Nurses Association say the hospital has been restricting access to respirators and other equipment.

“We do not have enough PPE or Personal Protection Equipment. Specifically, we don’t have enough N95 masks or regular surgical masks.”

In a statement Friday, the hospital said it has adequate supplies of masks and other PPE to allow staff to safely care for patients, and says the “outstanding collaboration of our colleagues has made our response to COVID-19 a true team effort.”

When asked Saturday afternoon about Albany Medical Center nurses saying they don't have the necessary personal protective equipment, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he talks to hospital leaders statewide every day and asks them what they need. The Democrat says if there is a disconnect between nurses and their hospital administration he "can't help with that right now."
