Democrat Jay Gonzalez Launches Bid For Massachusetts Governor

        The first Democrat has formally announced a run for governor of Massachusetts in 2018.

        Jay Gonzalez, a veteran of the administration of former Gov. Deval Patrick, announced Monday that he plans to challenge Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, who is expected to seek re-election to a second term.                   

        Gonzalez, a former health care CEO, was Patrick’s first budget chief.
