Forum Scheduled On Preservation Act Ballot Question

A political advocacy group has registered in Massachusetts to campaign for passage of a property tax increase in Springfield to fund historic preservation and parks and playground projects.

The new organization, Springfield CPAdvocacy, is holding a public forum at 6:30 p.m. today at the Business Growth Center at the Springfield Technology Park.

Robert McCarroll is president of the new committee that is campaigning for Springfield voters to approve a referendum on this November’s ballot to adopt the state Community Preservation Act. He spoke with WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
