Lt. Gov. Murray Will Not Run For Governor In 2014

Massachusetts Lt.Gov Timothy Murray said Friday he will not be a candidate for governor in 2014.  WAMC’s Paul Tuthill reports

Murray, who has served key roles for Governor Patrick including  liaison to municipalities and point person in the state’s effort to preserve its military bases, told supporters in an email that he’d decided not to run to succeed Patrick. Murray cited the time commitment and  family responsibilities. His decision opens the door to other likely Democratic candidates including the state treasurer, Steve Grossman

Dr. Donald Berwick, who headed the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for President Obama is also considering running for Massachusetts Governor.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
