Plattsburgh Mayor Colin Read will run for a second four-year term in 2020.
The Democrat has not officially held a campaign rally or announcement but has revealed his intentions to run for another term. Read says he needs a few more years to firm up the city’s fiscal foundation. “I’ve always maintained that I’ll continue to do this until I’m very confident the city’s got a good strong structural fiscal balance.”
Read has been criticized for attempting to annex adjacent town land and has also come under fire for downtown redevelopment plans. “Obviously that means I take a great deal of hits from people.”
No other candidates have announced mayoral campaigns at this time.
