The Albany County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday reported the deaths of four people in a house fire in New Scotland.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire in the area of Krumkill and Normanskill Road. The names of the deceased have not yet been released by authorities.

Those killed reportedly included a 5-year-old girl, 40-year-old woman, and two men, ages 35 and 64.

A 14-year-old boy reportedly escaped the fire.

The family ran a vegetable stand at the site.

County Executive Dan McCoy issued a statement Sunday. The Democrat said:

“My condolences to the relatives, friends and the community for the loss of the four people who died in the New Scotland house fire. I am grateful to the first responders who battled the blaze and encourage students and staff to utilize counseling and bereavement support services offered by the school district.”

The Voorheesville Central School District said one of those killed was a district elementary school student. Superintendent Frank Macri called the deaths “heartbreaking news.” The district says a crisis team was activated to develop a grief support plan for students and staff in need.
