Colonie Police say they have arrested a teacher after finding a covert camera in a co-ed bathroom at the Sand Creek Middle School. Police say they were notified Friday after a suspicious device, disguised as a cell phone charger, was found in the bathroom by school administrators.

An investigation found the camera contained videos and images of multiple faculty members, both male and female, in various stages of undress. Police say there is no evidence that any videos were taken of students.

Police say they arrested 57-year-old Patrick Morgan of Frankfort Monday morning. The fifth grade teacher has worked at the South Colonie School District for 28 years. He has been charged with two counts of unlawful surveillance, but police say more charges are likely to follow.

Police say they are executing a search warrant at Morgan’s home and an effort will be made to identify all victims and determine if the videos have been distributed anywhere. The school has been searched and police don’t believe there are any other cameras deployed on school property. The investigation is ongoing.

Police say multiple faculty members were identified as victims. Classes were canceled today.

Superintendent Dr. David Perry says Morgan is on administrative leave and is not working on school grounds, adding "there is no indication that students were impacted" by the alleged actions.
