With the legislative session in full swing at the New York state capitol, lobbying groups have been seeking to influence lawmakers on long-awaited policy changes.

The nonprofit group Compassion & Choices has been advocating across the country for Aid in Dying legislation, which has been stalled for years in Albany. Last year, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on WAMC that he supports the bill, but it didn’t make it to his desk before lawmakers left in June.

WAMC's Lucas Willard spoke with Kim Callinan, President and CEO of the group.

Lucas Willard is a news reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011. He produces and hosts The Best of Our Knowledge and WAMC Listening Party.
