MyPayrollHR, a Saratoga County payroll company, abruptly closed its doors last week.

The shutdown of business which serves more than 4,000 employers has the potential to affect tens of thousands of workers, with paychecks disappearing from bank accounts.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called for an investigation into the incident.

One local man affected by the shutdown is Jared Barton. Barton is the Operations Manager at the Shop, a bar and restaurant in Troy, New York, and the creator of a growing Facebook group where people across the country are coming together seeking answers.

Lucas Willard is a news reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011. He produces and hosts The Best of Our Knowledge and WAMC Listening Party.
