New York City Public Advocate Letitia "Tish" James won a 4-way Democratic primary for attorney general in New York Thursday, according to The Associated Press.

James beat out Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, Fordham law professor Zephyr Teachout and Buffalo attorney Leecia Eve.

James, who was backed by Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, will face Republican Keith Wofford and the Green Party's Michael Sussman in November.

Democratic Attorney General Barbara Underwood took over after Eric Schneiderman resigned in May following abuse allegations. Underwood decided not to seek a full term.
