A gun buyback program in Amsterdam will hold an event this weekend.
The third “Gifts for Guns” buyback program is Saturday.
The effort is a partnership between the Trinity Lutheran Church, Amsterdam Police Department, and Montgomery County District Attorney’s office.
Handguns can be dropped off at Trinity Lutheran Church at 42 Guy Park Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon in exchange for a $100 gift card.
Organizers say the “no questions asked” program allows people to turn in weapons without fear of being prosecuted.
