Kristina Johnson Set To Be Next SUNY Chancellor

SUNY administration in Albany
Patrick Garrett/WAMC

Kristina Johnson, an entrepreneur and engineer who served in the Obama administration, is set to be appointed as the next chancellor of the State University of New York.

She will succeed Nancy Zimpher, who is due to step down in June after serving 8 years as the head of SUNY.

The New York Times reports that Dr. Johnson previously held positions as the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University as well as the dean of the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University.

If Dr. Johnson’s appointment is confirmed by the board of trustees this afternoon, she would start in September.
