Senator Schumer Warns Against Amtrak Cuts

Wikipedia.org

Following last week’s derailment at Penn Station in New York City, the U.S. Senate Minority Leader is warning feds against making cuts to Amtrak.

Highlighting the recent derailment at Penn Station that caused delays and headaches for thousands,  New York Democrat Charles Schumer says Amtrak is now facing a $28 billion state-of-good-repair backlog.

Last week, New Jersey Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker wrote to a Senate subcommittee saying President Donald Trump’s spending plan would cut funding for Amtrak and new transit projects.

Trump has said he would spend $1 trillion on infrastructure.
