Video Game Developers: NY Must Nurture Industry Growth

Video game developers say New York will miss out on its chunk of a nearly $100 billion industry if it doesn't encourage companies to plant their roots in the state.

Game design experts and arts advocates on Tuesday urged Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo to accept proposals in both the Assembly and the Senate that would provide tax incentives of up to $25 million for music production and video game developing companies.

Supporters say incentives could build the game development industry in New York and prevent highly trained creatives from programs at RPI and RIT from leaving for jobs on the West Coast.
