EPA Hudson River Study Will Continue Despite Trump's Freeze

An official with the federal Environmental Protection Agency says a PCB investigation along the Hudson River shoreline in New York is continuing despite a freeze on EPA contracts.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that the PCB study is continuing because General Electric is paying for it.

The Trump administration announced Tuesday it is investigating all contracts and grant awards and will approve the ones it wants to keep.

But EPA spokeswoman Larisa Romanowski said the announcement doesn't affect the GE project.

The company agreed in 2014 to conduct a comprehensive study into possible contamination by polychlorinated biphenyls along the upper Hudson River shoreline.

Two closed GE factories spilled the toxic chemicals into the Hudson for decades.
