Authorities have arrested 11 people following a three-month investigation into contraband smuggling at the Albany County Jail.
The Albany Times Union reported Sunday that five inmates and six others were arrested, including the supervisor at the facility in Colonie.
Sheriff Craig Apple said the jail near Albany International Airport was on lockdown for most of Saturday as authorities searched for contraband. He said the smuggled items included drugs and phones.
The names of those arrested weren't immediately available. Each was expected to face an assortment of felony and misdemeanor charges at an arraignment Sunday at Colonie Town Court.
