A New York State trooper has died after being hit by a vehicle while assisting the driver of a tractor trailer that had stopped in a median this morning in Wilton.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed flags to half-staff in honor of Trooper Timothy Pratt. Pratt was taken to Saratoga Hospital, and then flown to Albany Medical Center, where he later died. Troop G Commander Major William Keeler said at a news conference this afternoon that the investigation is wrapping up.
“I’m comfortable saying that we don’t anticipate any charges based on the witness statements and what I saw at the scene,” Keeler said. “But, that hasn’t been finalized yet.”
Pratt, 55, joined the State Police in 1987 and served in the Air Force.
