Montgomery County Town of Palatine Supervisor Sara Niccoli has kicked off a campaign to unseat Republican George Amedore in the 46th State Senate District. Like Cecelia Tkacik, her Democratic predecessor who lost the seat to Amedore two years ago, Niccoli is a sheep farmer.
She's also an Albany High grad who says education needs more attention.
"It's just not right that the children of the 46th district don't have the same opportunities as children in other places in New York," said Niccoli.
Amedore emailed a response to the Niccoli announcement, which says in part:
"With less than two weeks to go until the state budget deadline, I am focusing on making New York a more affordable place to live and work." Amedore also said, "Election season is still a long way off and with so many important issues before the Legislature, I will continue to concentrate on best representing the residents of the 46th Senate district."
