State Secures Commitment For Petersburgh Filtration System

PFOA formula

New York State's Department of Environmental Conversation and Department of Health have announced a commitment to install a filtration system in a Rensselaer County community with a water supply tainted with the chemical PFOA.

State officials announced Tuesday that company Taconic has agreed to install a carbon water filtration system for Town of Petersburgh's water supply.

DEC Acting Commissioner Basil Seggos said state agencies will "continue to work quickly to conduct further tests to determine the extent of the contamination."

A temporary filtration system is beginning to flush water lines in nearby Hoosick Falls. Meanwhile, testing for PFOA continues in private wells in North Bennington, Vermont.
