Suburban New York police officials say an officer has been placed on modified duty and is under investigation after posting a racist photo on Facebook.

Greenburgh Police Chief Christopher McNerney tells The Journal News (http://lohud.us/1dDz2tc ) Saturday he's "very troubled and disappointed" by the post.

The newspaper reports it obtained a screenshot of 28-year veteran Officer Brad DiCairano's post, which juxtaposed two images.

It says one is of black people on a minivan during the protests over Michael Brown's death in Ferguson, Missouri. It says the other depicts a white woman driving a car that's surrounded by baboons. The paper says the caption reads: "What can I say!"

McNerney tells the paper the 54-year-old officer is on vacation and will be interviewed Monday.

He says officials will investigate "swiftly and appropriately."
