Winter Storm On Its Way

Forecasters say blizzard-like conditions could drop a foot or more of snow across much of the Northeast at the start of the work week.

The National Weather Service says a storm system diving out of the Midwest has the potential to coat an area from Philadelphia to Maine with snow, starting late tonight and intensifying well into Tuesday.

Forecasters say areas east of New York City could receive in excess of a foot of snow if the storm develops as feared, but they caution that there is still a great deal of uncertainty about the track.

It would follow another storm that moved up the East Coast yesterday, leaving a slushy, snowy coating from Pennsylvania to New England. At least 9 inches of snow fell in parts of Pennsylvania and 8 inches in parts of New York, northern New Jersey and northwestern Connecticut.
