New York's lieutenant governor will lead a Rochester business organization when he steps down at the end of the year.

The Rochester Business Alliance announced Wednesday that Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy will start as its president and CEO beginning Jan. 5.

Duffy, a Democrat, chose not to seek a second term this year. Gov. Andrew Cuomo tapped former Buffalo congresswoman Kathy Hochul to be his running mate and will succeed Duffy when she's sworn in January.

The 60-year-old Duffy is the former mayor and police chief in Rochester.

The business alliance serves as the Chamber of Commerce for a nine-county region in and around Rochester. The current president and CEO is Sandy Parker, who's retiring this year.
