Albany, NY – Well Syracuse University associate head basketball coach Bernie Fine has been fired in the wake of an investigation of child molestation allegations against him.
Fine's firing comes in the wake of new revelations Sunday, including a third accuser. Twenty-three-year-old Zach Tomaselli, of Maine, tells the AP that he told police that the 65-year-old Bernie Fine molested him in 2002 in a Pittsburgh hotel room. Tomaselli's own father maintains his son is lying. Two former Syracuse ball boys were the first to accuse Fine, who has aggressively denied the allegations.
To the NFL, in East Rutherford, Mark Sanchez tossed four touchdown passes, including a 16-yard scoring strike to Santonio Holmes with just over one minute remaining, as the Jets rallied to beat the Bills 28-24. New York improves to 6-5; Buffalo slips to 5-6.
In Philadelphia, Tom Brady threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, as the Patriots blew out the Eagles 38-20.
Elsewhere, Houston edged Jacksonville 20-13, Tennessee topped Tampa Bay 23-17, Oakland dumped Chicago 25-20, Carolina got past Indianapolis 27-19, Atlanta held off Minnesota 24-14, Cincinnati outlasted Cleveland 23-20, Washington upset Seattle 23-17, Arizona downed St. Louis 23-20, Pittsburgh beat Kansas City 13-9, and Tim Tebow does it again - he's now 5-1 as a starter after rallying the Broncos over the Chargers 16-13 in OT.
Tonight, the Giants visit the Saints on Monday Night Football.
To the ice, St. Louis skated past Columbus 2-1, Toronto got by Anaheim 5-2, Ottawa dropped Carolina 4-3, and Calgary cruised past Minnesota 5-2.
And in NBA news, the league has posted an outline of what the season schedule would look like on its Twitter pages, and the plan is a 66-game regular season, ending about 10 days later than usual. This is all contingent on a new labor deal being ratified in time for the season to start on Christmas.
