Beacon, NY – Thousands of utility customers from the Mid-Hudson Valley to New York City's northern suburbs remain without power because of the weekend snowstorm - WAMC's Dave Lucas has an update
Crews with Central Hudson, NYSEG , Consolidated Edison and Orange and Rockland Utilities have been working around the clock to fully restore electric service to their service areas.
Central Hudson spokesman John Maserjian says more than 90% of the utility's customers now have power and crews continue working neighborhood to neighborhood, house-to-house. Westchester has the most overall outages with more than 25,000 homes and businesses waiting to get back online. Alan Drury is a spokesman for Consolidated Edison: he says all New York City restorations are complete. NYSEG's Jim Salmon also has good news for customers: he says about 20-thousand customers are still out in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester as of about 5pm.
Orange and Rockland Utilities report scattered multiple outages in areas surrounding and including Middletown, Walden. Port Jervis and Goshen all the way down to Yonkers with thousands of their customers still waiting for the lights to come back on.
