Albany, NY – Well the Yankee captain says, "Move over, Mick."

Yesterday in Baltimore, the Yankees and Orioles split a doubleheader. In the opener, Zach Britton scattered four hits over seven innings, as the O's blanked the Yanks 2-0. In that game, Captain Derek Jeter passed Mickey Mantle for most games played as a Yankee, by suiting up for his 2,402nd game in pinstripes.

In the nightcap, the Yankees played long-ball, smacking five home runs, including two by Curtis Granderson who now leads the Majors with 38, as the Yankees dumped the Orioles 8-3. New York now trails idle Boston by two games in the division.

Elsewhere in the AL, Texas topped the Angels 9-5, Minnesota routed Detroit 11-4, Kansas City doubled up Cleveland 2-1, Tampa Bay blasted Toronto 12-0, and the White Sox beat Seattle 9-3.

Over to the NL, Arizona downed San Diego 6-1, Houston held off San Francisco 4-3, Milwaukee edged the Cubs 3-2, St. Louis got by Pittsburgh 7-4, Cincinnati clipped Washington 5-4, and Colorado outlasted the Dodgers 7-6.

In the Little League World Series championship game, the U.S. team from California posted a 2-1 victory over Japan. It's the fifth time in the last six years that a team from the U.S. has won the title.

In NFL preseason action, New Orleans breezed through Oakland 40-20. The Jets and Giants will play tonight.

In NBA news, the FBI is helping police in Atlanta and Los Angeles search for a former NBA player wanted for murder. Authorities say Javaris Crittenton is charged in the fatal shooting of Jullian Jones, a 22-year-old mother of four, who was gunned down August 19th in Atlanta.

In tennis, the U.S.T.A. says the site of the U.S. Open has "minimal damage" from Hurricane Irene and the aim is to begin the Grand Slam tournament on time tomorrow.
