Albany, NY – Thruway travelers will find a new construction zone starting this week.
The Thruway Authority says northbound traffic will be shifted to the right for about two miles between exits 23 and 24 in Albany starting on Wednesday. The lane shift is needed while workers upgrade drainage within the median and widen the northbound left shoulder.
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 in the construction zone, with fines doubled for speeding.
The $99.7 million project is being done by Rifenburg Construction of Troy. Completion is expected in November 2013.
