Albany, NY – Well Vancouver is one win away from going to the Western Conference finals...

In Nashville, Ryan Kesler broke a 2-2 tie with a power play goal late in the third, to lead the Canucks over the Predators 4-2. Vancouver leads the series three games to one.

To the NBA... Laker's Ron Artest has been suspended for tonight's Game 3 against Dallas, after he threw a forearm shot to the face of Mavericks' guard J.J. Barea.

And Celtics' Shaquille O'Neal is expected to return to the Boston lineup for Game 3 tomorrow. He's been nursing an injured calf.

To baseball... in Boston, John Lackey allowed eight runs on ten hits over just four innings, as the Angels blew out the Red Sox 11-0. Boston's dropped two straight.

In Detroit, Brennan Boesch homered and drove in three runs to power the Tigers of the Yankees 6-3. New York's lost three straight.

In other AL action, Cleveland rallied past Oakland 4-3 in 12, Tampa Bay topped Toronto 3-1, Kansas City bounced Baltimore 9-1, and Seattle downed Texas 3-1.

Over to the NL... in New York, Mike Pelfrey allowed one run on four hits over seven and two-thirds innings, as the Mets avoided a three-game sweep by beating San Francisco 5-2.

Elsewhere, Atlanta doubled up Milwaukee 2-1, Cincinnati hammered Houston 10-4, Philadelphia whipped Washington 7-3, St. Louis held off Florida 6-3, and Arizona edged Colorado 3-2.

In college basketball news... Maryland head coach Gary Williams is retiring. The 66-year-old is the fifth-winningest active coach in the country after an illustrious 33-year career. Williams coached the Terrapins to 14 NCAA tournament appearances and the national championship in 2002.

And in NFL news Former lineman Gene Gossage, a member of the Philadelphia Eagles 1960 NFL championship team, has died. He was 76.
