Albany, NY – Have vote, will scan? ... maybe, maybe not ... Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas checked in with election commissioners in four area counties...

A few problems arose this morning as citizens in Albany County visited their neighborhood polling places. Albany County Elections Commissioner John Graziano says most of the trouble came within the first hour the polls opened. Graziano explained that anytime a scanner is malfunctioning, a ballot can be voided and the voter can return later or use another machine. Rennselaer County Commissioner of Elections Ed McDonough says the turnout seems to be higher and voters haven't encountered any difficulties with the scanning machines. In Oneida County, Elections Commissioner Pamela Mandryck says there were a few minor issues with the scanners but no major impact on voting. Roger Schiera is an elections Commissioner in Saratoga County. He's expecting a 70 per cent or better turnout where the Murphy-Gibson race for the 20th Congressional District seat is the talk of the town. Schiera says there've been no major problems with the new voting machines in Saratoga County.
