2010 Education Conference to be held at the Desmond

Albany, NY – A symposium addressing mental health issues is being held this weekend in the Albany area. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports.

The NAMI-NYS Educational Conference takes place November 5th through 7th at the Desmond Hotel & Convention Center. NAMI-NYS is the state arm of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. The agency provides education, support and advocacy for about 673-thousand New Yorkers. Matthew Shapiro, NAMI-NYS Development and Events Coordinator,says the meeting will feature inspiring workshops on a variety of topics. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country.
