Malta, NY – Saratoga County leaders are concerned about a possible state seizure of the Luther Forest Technology Park. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports./b>
On Friday, Empire State Development began proceedings to take possession of the Luther Forest Technology Campus. Letters were sent to the Luther Forest Technology Campus Economic Development Corporation seeking repayment of more than $1.75 million in loans that went into repayment earlier this year. ESD and GlobalFoundries' officials were worried that delays in installing components of the infrastructure could put GlobalFoundries' 4-point-6 billion dollar computer chip factory in jeopardy. The non-profit Luther Forest Technology Campus group has been building the 1400-acre campus, where GlobalFoundries is located. More than $80 million in state aid has gone to build critical water and utility infrastructure at the Saratoga County site.
