Cohoes, NY – Representatives of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority joined local politicians at Cohoes Middle School to announce the awarding of over 6 Million dollars in stimulus funding to 28 energy conservation projects across the Capital District and Hudson Valley. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money will be used by cities, towns, school districts, hospitals and non-profit groups. The Cohoes City School District joins several other area school districts in receiving grant money earmarked for installation of photovoltaic electric systems. The projects fall under Governor David Paterson's 45 by 15 program, which entails meeting 45 per cent of New York's energy needs through energy efficiency and renewable energy by the year 2015. There's another 8.8 million dollars of funding with proposals due at NYSERDA on April 7th.
