Burlington Progressives Begin Candidate Recruitment For Ward 3 Seat

In the wake of Burlington, Vermont Mayor Miro Weinberger’s announcement that he is appointing a Progressive City Councilor to head a city department, the city’s Progressive Party is seeking candidates to replace him on the council.

If Ward 3 Progressive Brian Pine’s appointment as director of  the Community and Economic Development Office is confirmed at the next city council meeting he will have to resign the council seat.

A special election in that ward is expected August 17.

Although the appointment has not yet been confirmed by the council, Burlington Progressives announced Thursday they are beginning their recruitment process for candidates to serve as Ward 3 councilor and planning a nominating caucus.
