Two Berkshire County nursing and rehabilitation facilities continue to see COVID-19 cases spike among staff and residents.

Berkshire Healthcare spokeswoman Lisa Gaudet says cases at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield have grown from around 130 total cases last week to over 170 by Sunday.

“We have 127 positive residents at Hillcrest Commons and 46 staff, and then we also have 30 residents at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center who are positive and six staff there,” she told WAMC.

The pandemic hit the county’s nursing homes hard in the spring. Around 30 residents of the Berkshire Healthcare-managed Williamstown Commons facility died from COVID.
