Great Barrington, Massachusetts is celebrating the 51st anniversary of the dedication of civil rights icon W.E.B. Du Bois’s home on Sunday.

The event will feature both a digital discussion of Du Bois’ work and legacy, as well as an in-person event to celebrate the recent vote to rename the town’s middle school after the writer, scholar and activist. Gwendolyn VanSant is with Great Barrington’s W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Committee.

“Some of the folks that wrote letters and the selectboard and the school committee and the principal and some students are going to be presenting this Sunday,” she told WAMC.

Du Bois was born in Great Barrington in 1868. For more information on the day, click here.
