Vermont Inmate Tests Positive For COVID-19

The Vermont Corrections Department says an inmate at the state prison in Swanton is the first state prisoner to test positive for the coronavirus.
Officials say all inmates and staff at the Northwest Correctional Facility will be tested and other precautions are being taken. Three staff members there also have tested positive.

Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine said Wednesday that Vermont had a total of 605 confirmed cases and that 23 people have died from COVID-19.

Gov. Phil Scott said he plans to announce an extension of his stay-at-home order for Vermonters on Friday.
