New Pittsfield City Councilors Sworn In

The newly sworn in Pittsfield city council takes their seats in council chambers in city hall at Monday's inauguration.

The new city council of Pittsfield, Massachusetts was sworn into office Monday.

All 11 councilors took their oath of office and their new, randomly selected seats on the council rostrum during the city’s inaugural ceremony. Councilor At-Large Peter Marchetti was re-elected as the council’s president. He was sworn in by City Clerk Michele Benjamin.

“I, Councilor Marchetti, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all of the duties incumbent upon me as President of the city council for the city of Pittsfield,” repeated Marchetti.

Fellow at-large Councilor Pete White was elected vice president.

Its first meeting is scheduled for January 14th.
