Conference Highlights Resources To Prevent Homelessness

Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness

An array of social service and government agencies throughout western Massachusetts have been enlisted to join the fight against homelessness.

To achieve the goal of making homelessness rare and brief, they must overcome obstacles including a growing shortage of affordable housing in Massachusetts.

Close to 200 people who are working on the problem of homelessness met earlier this week in Holyoke to network and share information.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Pamela Schwartz, director of the Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
